Steve Thomas and Andy Spink set up Hebridean Pursuits Ltd in 1989. For over twenty years they have shared their boundless enthusiasm for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland with over 10,000 thousand disadvantaged young people.
Steve retired from the organisation at the end of January 2011 but has been appointed as Founder patron to the Roses Charitable Trust.
We are dedicated to providing quality, appropriate and inspiring experiences that you will never forget.
Andrew
Spink, BA Hons, Managing Director has
extensive walking and climbing experience in the UK, European
Alps, the Himalayas and South America. Andy has completed all
of Scotland’s 284 Munro’s.
Andy holds the Mountaineering Instructor certificate, MIC and
the British International Mountain Leaders Award, IML;
he is also a full member of the British Association of European
Mountain Leaders. He also holds the MIA, WML and SML awards.
Andy has a wide experience in a variety of water sports, he holds BCU level 5 Surf Kayak Coach Status, Level
3 sea kayak coach award and level 2
Canadian canoe coach awards. He also holds the Snow Sport Scotland, Snow
board
Leader Award and the Swift Water Rescue Technician’s
Certificate level 1 and the SLS, Emergency Surf
Aid and Rescue Award.
Jane Sayer General Manager and Trust Secretary, holds an Msc. in Marine Biology and has had a varied career in science and administration. In addition to her broad knowledge of the work of Hebridean Pursuits Ltd, she also worked for some years in fundraising and publicity for a major UK charity. She also has a great love of the outdoors.
All of our instructors are highly professional. They each have the appropriate national qualifications and in addition are in house trained by us. They are adaptable and responsive to the needs of our clients and they are dedicated to enabling each person to get the most out of her or his stay whilst being challenged and having a lot of fun.
All certificates, including Enhanced Disclosure/PVG/First Aid certificates are up to date.
