Hebridean Pursuits Ltd are ideally situated to offer you courses from an introductory level to challenging experiences on advanced expeditions to remote off shore islands.

Being based in Oban we have excellent access to fine sheltered lochs, short open crossings to quiet islands or easy ferry links to the Island of Mull or the further a field Long Isle and a short drive up to The Isle Skye.

The now renowned vessel supported ‘Wild West Expedition’ with the ultimate Goal of reaching St.Kilda gives you a chance to visit some of the classic Hebridean Sea kayaking destinations otherwise unattainable in one experience.  

Our popular coaching courses for novices or those who have some experience in kayaks are designed to maximise your time with us on the water. Whilst our advanced courses challenge those looking for top level coaching and adventures. Which ever course you book onto your highly experienced and qualified coach will base his or her instruction on your ability and ambitions and learning styles.    

Courses are one to five days long. Ratios are generally 1:2 or 4 or less to maximise you coaching time, however we can cater for up to ten people and we provide all specialist equipment on request.

Introductory Courses : Sheltered Lochs and Inlets.

For those with no or very little experience of kayaking. We will introduce you to the enjoyment of sea kayaking and the basic skills to get started, such as forward paddling, turning skills, basic rescue skills and the gear. these courses take place in sheltered waters, close to the shore. Based around Oban.

Intermediate Courses: Lochs, Coasts and islands.

For those who have a basic experience of kayaking, but not especially in sea kayaks. We will cover all aspects of sea kayaking and look at the more challenging skills of more exposed waters. Some short open crossings maybe involved and for those on a five day course we will spend one night out under canvas or in a bothy, away on expedition. Based Around Oban, Skye or Mull.

Advanced Courses: Coastlines, crossings and waves.

Designed for those who have a good knowledge of kayaking already, but wish to transfer the skill base into sea kayaking. We will be exploring rougher waters and tide races and more advanced rescue techniques.

We also offer private guiding or coaching courses which are ideal for presents or if want ultimate value.
