Wildlife
A Typical Programe "Really Experience it "

A typical programme
Tavool HouseBased at the ideally situated and very comfortable Tavool  House, on the shores of Loch Scridain on the island of Mull. Mull Wildlife Holidays are designed to maximise your stay with us and the wonderful potential for you to see many sights.

These holidays are based on a full board basis, we provide good plentiful home cooking so no need to worry about being in the kitchen when we can be out wildlife spotting! Working up an appetite in the fresh air is a wonderful thing and looking forward to a good meal is just as pleasing.

Group sizes are normally between five and ten people. However we can arrange larger groups or private guiding as well. We cater for all ages and abilities, allowing families to join us or those who are really enjoying their retirement or leisure activity time away from the hurley –burley of modern life.

All weeks are based around your ambitions and of course the weather will determine which order you do things in.]

Some days will involve some walking over rough terrain; however your guide will tailor the programme around your abilities, but do expect to be active for up to five hours a day of slow rambling walking pace.

Sunday
Evening arrive and introductions.
Evening Meal, followed by a gentle night wonder to watch our resident Bats and many Moths and Red Deer that frequent the area around the house, then relax around an open fire and look forward to an exciting next day.

Monday
The Wilderness of the Burg.
Local exploration of the ‘Wilderness’, a natural un-spoilt environment where we often see; Eagles, Hen Harriers, and the rare Burnet Moth, as well as Red Deer, wild goats and a host of Bird life on the dramatic coastline and moor land above. A coastal walk which is amongst the finest any where in the world. Visit the famous ‘Fossil Tree’ and rock hop between rock pools packed with marine life. This day involves walking along foot paths and rugged coastal paths with views over to Staffa and Iona.

Tuesday
Kidnapped country, ‘Ulva or the Ross of Mull’.
Enjoyable, walking on the easy low level foot paths of the stunning wee island of Ulva or the rolling white shell beaches of West coast of Mull. Ulva offers magnificent views of Ben More, Mull’s Munro and the Treshnish islands and Staffa way out off shore. We have seen red kites, sea eagles, divers, razor bills, herons, mink, otters and kestrels whilst rambling along. Ulva is a joy for those who just love being off the between track.
The Ross of Mull offers white shell sand and hidden coves for exploration of rock pools, marsh birding, seal spotting and wild flower heaven such as the rare Scarlet Pimpernel on the unique Hebridean Machair.

Wednesday
Wild Glens and Burns day.
No trip to Scotland would be complete without a day in the glens, looking out for the array of flora and fauna residing in the local. Easy walking along side tranquil well stocked, fresh water lochs or burns and below fine mountains will find you amongst some of the best views in the country.
We regularly see Golden Eagles, mash land birds, larks rising and stone chats, chatting Red deer resting in the evening warmth; the fauna is particularly interesting and beautiful is the rich bog land of the peat country amongst the black house ruins and haunting history.

Thursday
A Hebridean Overture
Island of Staffa trip and the Treshnish islands.
See the Puffins at their best, Skuas and Gannets feeding, along with many other sea birds such as Guillemots and shags. It is not unusual to spot Minkie Whales and Porpoise as well as Dolphin on this trip. A fun day at sea visiting this most marvelous island famous for its basalt caves and columns, and Mendelsons overture.

Friday
Lochs and sky.
Look out for Otters, mink, seals, and those sea eagles that rise on the thermals above the hills of Mull. Waders, Eider ducks, oyster catches and herons all just inches away from your transport.
Leave on the 1300 ferry, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your last day on Mull with us.
